Challah and bagel preorder for Thursday! (Plus: Downtime dates to remember 📆)
Hello to the newsletter subscribers of Downtime Bakery.
Here’s a photo of staff breakfast we made last week on our 100% rye bread:
Now that that’s out of the way, I have two important announcements! Many of you emailed asking for a challah preorder for this week so we’re doing it again, as well as a rare bagel preorder. This will be one day only — Thursday, October 2nd — and pickups will be all day, from 9am to 3pm. You can come by any time during the day and get your order. We will have a number of bagels and challah available for walk-ins that day, if you miss the preorder too.
The second announcement is that our holiday schedule is all worked out, so I want you to know what the deal is so you can mark your calendars. We’ll be doing lots of nice bakes for the various holiday festivities this season, as well as commemorating our FIRST BIRTHDAY, so save the date, if you want to celebrate at a fun party with us.
Thursday, October 16th — The very first Nighttime at Downtime event, more to come very soon!!
Sunday, November 2nd — The genius baker Teresa Finney of At Heart Panaderia visits us from Georgia for a pop-up!
Saturday, November 22nd — Downtime’s First Birthday Party!! 🥹 This will be a ticketed party with lots of fun programming and very good food. Mark your cals, more info coming soon.
Sunday, November 23rd — The bakery is closed :)
Wednesday, November 26th and Thursday, November 27th — Thanksgiving preorder pickups (pies, breads, tarts, sweet potato rolls.)
Friday, November 28th — The bakery is closed :)
Saturday, November 29th and Sunday, November 30th — We’re open again!
More info to come for our December schedule but this should lay it out for you for the next couple of months. Thanks again for supporting Downtime and can’t wait to see you in the bakery soon.
Dayna’s What’s Up Corner
I loved, loved, loved One Battle After Another and am realizing that Benicio del Toro may be my favorite actor of all time? Dang he’s so good in it. I did not love the candy that I got at the movie (Airheads Soft Filled Bites???? Why did I do this?) but as a devoted Coke Zero drinker I was surprised by how much I loved the Diet Pepsi I got to go with them. I am reading Darrow Farr’s The Bombshell and it’s so good and spicy; I haven’t surfed since we got back from Scotland but I think about surfing every day, so that counts. I pretty much entirely stopped watching football last year but now that Bad Bunny is doing the Super Bowl Half-Time Show? Okay, Benito, one last ride. Anything new with you? Anyone have a good album recommendation?
