Challah, rye, pretzels, and Coriscan treats tomorrow night
Oh hi! It’s me, Lizzie, senior pastry baker here at Downtime. It’s a beautifully cool Wednesday morning, the world is just waking up, and our bakers are preparing for an exciting week ahead.
First things first: Today is your last chance to purchase tickets for tommorow evening’s Nighttime at Downtime event with Darrow Farr, author of The Bombshell. There will be books, there will be Corsican treats, and really, what more could you need? Kind of my ideal evening — come through, it’s gonna be a goodie.
Some Baking Schedule Updates:
We have at long last nailed down a schedule for some of our bread specials — if you’re anxiously awaiting challah, pretzels, or rye loaves, and aren’t sure when you’ll be able to get them, fret no more.
On Fridays, we will offer both challah and 100% rye loaves
On Saturdays: Whole wheat sandwich loaves
On Sundays: Soft pretzels!
There you have it: your faves, on schedule, every week. Mark your calendars. Any changes to that schedule we’ll either update you via the newsletter or on social media.
Lizzie’s What’s Up Corner:
What’s up for me? I just saw Madi Diaz’s show at the Filmore last night, and it was INCREDIBLE. Her new album, Fatal Optimist, is out now, and it is a stellar record — grappling with what it means to break up and break down, and come out the other side with a persistent, stubborn belief that everything will turn out in the end. My favorite tracks are “Heavy Metal” and “Lone Wolf,” but the whole record is on heavy repeat for me. What are you listening to these days?
Looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces this week — there’s nothing better.
Sincerely,
Lizzie
