Will This Make You Happy tickets are on sale now! 🍑
Hello!
We are positively thrilled with how Breakfast for Dinner went at the bakery last week. It was no small feat to run the bakery all day then turn the bakery into a restaurant at night, but the staff handled everything so smoothly, and we all had a really good time. Thank you to our amazing regulars for showing up and partying with us. We hope you enjoyed it.
A little hint at our next nighttime dinner service?? 🍕🍕🍕. Stay tuned for updates.
Speaking of nighttime at the bakery, we’re very excited to announce tickets are on sale now for our next NIGHTTIME AT DOWNTIME extravaganza, with our friend Tanya Bush. Tanya’s new narrative cookbook, Will This Make You Happy, is a lovely reflection on baking as an outlet for our emotions, and we’re very stoked to get to host the Philadelphia stop on her book tour. The night will include a build-your-own-pavlova bar, orange poppy seed cake, as well as a reading, Q+A, and signing with Tanya. I’ve known Tanya for a long time so I’m very happy to get to interview her about her profound work!
There are two ticket options: one for the event itself and one for the event plus a copy of Tanya’s book, which we’ll have waiting for you at the bakery when you arrive!
Small Bread Updates
100% rye keeps getting moved around on the weekly schedule. We’re going to be doing it on SATURDAYS now. Come on Saturday, if you love that 100% rye loaf!
This week’s Thursday special loaf will be: grits and rosemary. Creamy, rich, and tender. A real hitter.
See you at the bakery!

I’m sad that I will not make it in time to see the Nakashima documentary screening at Umbria Arts this Sunday — so you should go instead! He’s one of my personal heroes. Have you been to the Nakashima house? It’s incredible. One thing I am VERY pleased to have seen is the Noah Davis exhibit at the PMA. You should also go to that, it really made my whole weekend. Can’t believe, btw, that I’d never read Remains of the Day — turns out it’s a perfect book. I’m onto We Are Green and Trembling by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara, which I am loving. I also saw Wuthering Heights with some gal pals and you know, it was fine. Very excited to see Pillion, though!
