Hi there!

Time seemed to really fly leading up to our biannual break (which officially starts on September 3rd — we reopen on September 10th) and yet we’re still going to pack the calendar as full as we can to keep the September scaries at bay.

Programming abounds in the next two weeks, which is exactly how I remember the last two weeks of August when I was in school. You can’t be serious that I have to go back to school while it’s still perfect weather out? And I’m just getting into my summer rhythm? Well then it must be time to meet up with every single friend I have, stay up all night, and have the most heartachingly good time so that we can say summer is forever. Because we’ve got a lot on the radar these coming weeks, I’m just going to lay everything out by date. Here goes.

No Thursday Loaves
Thursday, August 20th / Thursday, August 27th
We will have no Thursday loaf this week or next! Kind of a boring announcement, but just letting you know.

3 Speed Bakery Pop-Up
Sunday, August 23rd

This Sunday, August 23rd, we’ll have 3 Speed Bakery in the house selling a variety of seasonal pastries like zucchini crumb cake, peach almond financiers, eggs in a nest, and corn galettes. You can preorder treats here, or just walk-in on Sunday to get your goods!

We’re especially stoked because in September, Adrien Carnecchia, who is one half of 3 Speed Bakery, will be joining the Downtime team as our Head Pastry Chef. Come taste some of their genius pastries and get a preview of what we’ve got in store this fall at Downtime!

Merch Is Shipping Again!

We have lots of great new merch for babies, kids, and adults alike. We are now shipping it nationwide, so go to downtimebakery.com to order hats and tees!

Pastry Passport Grand Finale
Saturday, August 29th

There are only two more weeks of Pastry Passport and we’re very excited for the final two treats. A reminder if you made it through the summer with 8/10 stamps, you get a sticker! If you get to 10/10, you get a patch and a certificate! Come retrieve yours on the 29th!

Downtime Donuts
Sunday, August 30th

For our final day of service before we go on break, we’ll be doing DONUTS. I’ve talked a lot (out loud and in this newsletter) about how much I love donuts so to have some fun on our last day, I’m going to personally be frying up 6-packs of sourdough donuts. Some classics, some less classic. No substitutions, only full boxes, and all for walk-ins!

Kitchen Yard Sale
Monday, August 31st

We’ve been doing a ton of work on the bakery and so have been going through stuff we no longer need. On the day after our last day of service, I’ll be hanging out the bakery selling everything from mixers to smallwares to display cabinets to storage containers. Come take them off our hands!
