Ratatouille loaf is our Thursday special today
Hi!
You know that scene in Ratatouille (2007) where Remy eats a strawberry and a chunk of cheese at the same time and fireworks explode over his head? A couple years ago, inspired by this exact image and my personal hero, Remy the rat, I said why don’t we do that but in bread?

And so the Ratatouille loaf was born (sorry to mislead you if you thought it was a loaf with peppers, eggplant, and courgettes — though that does sound good). We roast local strawberries, add some of the sweet liquid to our hydration, fold in chunks of local cheddar as well as fresh strawberries, and make fireworks explode over our heads. Come in on Thursday morning and grab one — we coat them in cornmeal so they get a beautiful sweet, toasted corn flavor at the end, too. We hope Remy would be proud.
Other things to know: This is the last week for the chickpea salad sandwich. Next week, we are moving on to our asparagus, whipped ricotta, pesto, and butterhead lettuce sandwich on focaccia. :) We got some nettles in, so we’ll be doing nettles and feta quiche all week, the best. We’re about to start selling jam again shortly, too! Check the retail shelves for that soon.
There will be no rhubarb and custard tarts today (Thursday) but they will be out at 10am the rest of the week.
That’s all for now! See you at the bakery!
xo,
Dayna
Dayna’s What’s Up Corner
I went to the new H Mart in Cherry Hill with my mom and had a really nice time. We also went to a sketchy petting zoo, but that’s a story for another time. I was featured in the Stick Ball newsletter recently, talking about all my favorite Philly places. I read this story about hantavirus and had my jaw on the ground the whole time; the new issue of Lux Magazine is at the bakery, too, and it’s full of incredible journalism. I also have been listening to the Charli xcx Wuthering Heights soundtrack for some reason? I also loved season two of Beef — Lee Sung Jin is so cool and sharp. I guess a lot has been up! Anything up over there??
